    10/23/2014 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM, Business Basics is an introduction to owning your own business. Topics that will be covered include deciding on a legal entity, basic accounting and tax issues, steps you need to take for permits and licensing, steps to writing a business plan and basics of marketing and market research. The class is only 2.5 hours long so these topics will only be briefly covered. Upon completing the class you will have the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of the professional business counselors in our office. Fee: $20, checks preferred, no credit cards accepted.

    10/24/2014 4:30 PM - 10/26/2014 11:30 AM, The Next Level Bow Hunting Workshop will be held at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center located at 1267 4-H Camp Rd. Appomattox, VA 24522 on October 24-26 and is open to Licensed, Adult Bow Hunters 18 years of age or older who have completed a hunter education course. Workshop classes include: Bow Hunting Methods & Technique; Camouflage, Scent Control, Lures & Calls; Treestand use, Placement & Safety; and Evening Bow Hunt on Wildlife Management Area. Dog Walk to Benefit Chase Away K9 Cancer Online Registration Printable Registration The event will be held on October 25th beginning at 9:00 am at Johnson’s Orchards in Bedford County. Participants can enjoy walking on a grass clipped 1 Mile trail through fruit orchards and pastures amid beautiful fall foliage. Refreshments will be available throughout the morning with coffee, fresh cider, apples, and donuts. There should be treats for the canines as well. The charge for each walker is $10 and contributions of a like amount can be given in honor or memory of a special dog who may be retired ,not social ,or a beloved one no longer with us. There will be a play area for the dogs.   Educational information by professionals and net working will acquaint participants with the awareness of the seriousness of canine cancer and how we might chase away this disease forever and become our (Dog’s Hero) by proper examination of our own canines for early detection. One in three dogs will develop cancer. Chase Away K-9 cancer is a fund under the National Canine Cancer Foundation (NCCF) a 501(c) 3 organization and has funded over a dozen grants over the past few years. It is totally a volunteer organization and there is no overhead since there is no staff. All donations are used for studies, awareness, and education.
