Title: Associate V.P. of Alumni Relations at Lynchburg College.
Why I serve on the Council:
The greatest part of my legacy will be what I do altruistically with the "dash" in my life's span - not what I do professionally. I am a longtime student of the art and science of leadership and graduated in Leadership Lynchburg's 35th class. Serving our local economic and professional communities as a member of the Chamber's Leadership Council would be a privilege.
My hobbies include a passion for golf unmatched by my abilities, racquetball, travel, writing, and exploring, with my kids, corners of the world I didn't know existed when I was a child. My current community involvement includes serving as vice president of the Lynchburg Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity; trustee and chair of the alumni association at Virginia Episcopal School; and vice president of the Dance Theatre of Lynchburg's board of directors. In addition, I mentor a 12-year-old boy at my church. My mother, who was a true community servant and who spent her career working with severely physically- and mentally-challenged children, died when I was 12. My outlook on life has been shaped by watching how she lived, knowing how she is (still) remembered by former colleagues and friends, and feeling a need to "live fast" that losing a young parent created within me. My philosophy is to suck the marrow from the bones of life. I live every day like it's my last chance to make a positive contribution.
