Compared to the rest of the country, Lynchburg’s cost of living ranked #34. The unemployment rate generally tracks more than a percentage point below the national average, and the Lynchburg region had the highest job growth rate in the state. Careers in healthcare; professional, scientific, technical services; accommodation and food service; education; and wholesale trade were the highest according to Richmond's Mangum Institute.
