Centra, the region’s non-profit health care system, maintains its national recognition while completing major construction on a new five-story East Tower and a two-story comprehensive cancer center

Architects and planners listened to Central Virginia health care providers, physicians and former patients in developing the best design to provide patients exceptional care. Completed in 2007, the East Tower includes 108 patient rooms, with separate floors for cancer patients, surgery patients, and a new unit for treating orthopedic/neurology patients. The new Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center brings comprehensive cancer treatment adjacent to Lynchburg General Hospital. The building projects are patient and family-friendly yet still able to accommodate the advanced equipment and technology needed to care for today’s patients.
