From high atop Liberty University Mountain, the views of the foothills are prominent and most inspiring. While the gazebo at the mountain top offers an inviting space to relax and unwind, these peaks often bustle with activity. This 5,000-acre mountain is home to a fast-expanding college campus, 30-mile trail system and paint ball fields. Future plans call for skiing and tubing slopes and an expanded Camp Hideaway Lake.
The City of Lynchburg spans 50 square miles and is bordered by the eastern edge of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. With a low crime rate and cost of living, and strong economic stability, Central Virginia is a prime place for future business leaders to grow and thrive. Lynchburg is a city in which students strive to be engineers, doctors, teachers, artists, singers, athletes, and so much more. Local children dream of molding their future as leaders, and making a positive impact on the community in which they have grown up.

About the Author
Lynchburg native April Moore Barney couldn’t imagine living and working anywhere other than the Central Virginia area. After earning her degree from Longwood College in 1997, she made her way back home to work in the field of journalism. Her expertise is vast as she has filled the role of writer, photographer, editor and graphic designer for local newspapers and magazines. Most recently she has written for The Blue Ridge Business Journal and Central Virginia Home Magazine. April lives with her husband, Joey, and their 3-year-old son, Reagan. When she’s not creating ads or writing articles, April volunteers as the secretary of the Young Professionals of Central Virginia and is the publicity coordinator of a local Mothers of Preschoolers group.
