He is a graduate of Ferrum College and holds a B.S. degree in business management. He is a graduate of the 34th class of Leadership Lynchburg, a 9-month program offered through the Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is the current chairperson for the Leadership Lynchburg Program. He is a member of the Amherst County Education Foundation and a member of the Amherst Rotary Club.

Leadership Lynchburg Graduate Promoted
Leadership Lynchburg alumni W. Garth Calhoun has been named Assistant Vice President and Amherst County Regional Business Development Officer for the Bank of the James in Amherst. He was previously located at the bank's Madison Heights office and will also relocate to the bank’s Amherst Office and divide his time between both offices. Mr. Calhoun joined the bank in May 2006.
