Lynchburg Regional Chamber asking the state to help break U.S. 29 bypass impasse Rex Hammond, president of the Lynchburg chamber, said, “The communities along U.S. 29 that have already built their bypasses,” including Lynchburg and Culpeper, “would prefer that Charlottesville keep its promise,” made when the community accepted $50 million in state funds to acquire right of way and make plans for a bypass.
The Lynchburg Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau, Discover Lynchburg, won two awards at the 2010 Tourism Summit sponsored by the Virginia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus. Discover Lynchburg won an award in the advertising and promotions-interactive category for the multimedia display at the Lynchburg Regional Airport. It also was recognized in the regional marketing initiatives category for the Arts Along 460 program, a partnership with the Bedford and Roanoke visitors bureaus that encourages visitors to go from one locality to the next.
The Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce has announced the hiring of Kristy Arrington as Special Events Program Coordinator and Edie Swann as Advocacy Project Manager.
Denise Jackson, Tourism Marketing Manager for ‘DiscoverLynchburg’ is now a certified 'Travel Marketing Professional’. Jackson graduated from the 3 year program of the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Marketing College.The Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Mike Lewis as the Chamber’s new Director of Sales. Mike has over 35 years experience in sales and had been involved with the Chamber for many years on a volunteer basis. His responsibilities will include sales of memberships, sponsorships, event ticket packages, China trip and identifying other opportunities for enhanced relationships with our members. He will also be responsible for membership retention.

Beckie Nix, director of tourism for the Lynchburg Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau, has been selected to represent Lynchburg on both the state wide Tourism Committee for the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Advocacy Committee of Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI). These committees work to promote and protect the tourism industry by working with legislators to take action on numerous tourism related issues that affect the State and global economy.
